Getting Started

Scheduling an Appointment or Phone Consultation

If you're ready to get started, please contact Emboldened Mental Health (EMH) using the Contact Form to set up a 20-minute phone or video consultation, or you can reserve your spot on the EMH calendar through the SimplePractice client portal. This consultation is a means for you to share what is bringing your to counseling and to make sure that Brianne is the right person to help you or your teen. Every person has unique strengths and needs, and not every counselor is a good fit, so use this consultation as an opportunity to ask your questions and see if Brianne’s style and approach to counseling works for you.

Setting Up Your Client Portal

If you scheduled your initial consultation online, you have already done this and are good to go! If you did not schedule online but through email, you will receive an email with a link to the portal. If you do not receive this, check your spam folder, and if it's not there, please contact EMH to resend it.

Your SimplePractice client portal allows you to set reminders for appointments, cancel, add, or reschedule your appointments online.  Please note that EMH has a 24-hour cancellation policy. In cases of emergency, the fee may be waived. The fee may also be waived if we are able to reschedule the appointment within the same week, which depends on schedule availability.

If you email, call, text, or secure message through the SimplePractice client portal to cancel, you will receive a confirmation that the message has been received. If you do not get a response indicating that your message was received, please try to contact EMH through an alternative mode of communication. If canceling through the SimplePractice client portal, you do not need to ensure a response as your cancellation will be automatically recorded on the schedule.

Completing Intake Paperwork

Intake documents and other resources are shared with you through the SimplePractice secure client portal. Once your intake appointment is scheduled, you will receive a confirmation email that includes a direct link to the client portal and you will be able to complete and submit your paperwork digitally. If you have technical issues or questions about the intake paperwork, please feel free to contact EMH for assistance. Copies of some of the intake documents are located in the Client Center.

Paying for Counseling Services

EMH does not bill or accept insurance, but that does not necessarily mean that your insurance will not cover your counseling sessions. Many insurance companies will allow you to submit a bill showing the services you received and the amount you paid (called a “Superbill”) so they can reimburse you some portion of the session fee. Please let us know if you intend to attempt to receive reimbursement from insurance, and we can provide you with more information. Be sure to check with your insurance company about your coverage and if services through EMH can be reimbursed.

Payment is due at time of service. You can find the rates for sessions here. If the cost of therapy is a challenge for you, EMH offers a limited number of reduced-fee counseling session slots based on need. Please inquire to learn more about payment options and flexibility.

What to Expect at your First Appointment with Brianne

Starting therapy for the first time or with a new therapist can be hard. Challenging yourself to show up to your appointment can be an achievement in itself, let alone the part about opening up to someone you don't know. Brianne likes to start your first session by just sitting with you, learning about you, hearing you out, and beginning to get a feel for who you are and how counseling can help. You get to see what it's like to work with Brianne and decide if she is a good therapeutic fit for you. Brianne looks forward to the opportunity to hear your story, earn your trust, gain your confidence, and support the work you want to do in your life!
