EMH

Hello!

Welcome to EMH.

Life is complicated and it is so easy to lose your sense of balance. I understand how difficult it can be to reach out when you need help, let alone admit that you need it. Feelings of overwhelm, helplessness, loneliness, anger, and fear can cause us to distance ourselves from friends and loved ones. Isolation can intensify these feelings and oftentimes leads to cycles of depression and anxiety. Worry, sadness, and anger can surface and impact the way we relate to others. I can provide a safe, supportive, and encouraging space where clients can work through their worries and learn how to harness their strengths to get through challenges to keep moving forward.

I want you to be emboldened to become the best version of yourself.

As a therapist, my job is to help you to identify and access that internal strength and power to accomplish those goals. In my counseling work with adults, adolescents, and families, I utilize strategies that work for each specific client so that you can feel free and safe to explore and express in a way that feels best for you. I believe that the first step to effective therapy is earning your trust. Some ways I work toward this is by encouraging transparency, utilizing humor and playfulness, and by checking in on how you are feeling about your therapeutic journey and progress. As your therapist, I will walk alongside you as you reach for your highest potential. Together, we can find a path toward healing, wholeness, and wellness.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) serving Washington State residents. I have primarily worked in school systems providing services to children of all ages and abilities, as well as supporting the adults who tirelessly serve students. I continue to work with this population in my private practice, where I serve a variety of adults, adolescents, and families.

As a therapist, I enjoy working with people from a person-centered and solution-focused approach, working to first develop a relationship with my clients and then helping them to find the solutions within themselves to lead the type of life they want to live. I use an attachment lens to guide my work, meaning that I emphasize fostering close, healthy relationships to help clients heal and reach their fullest potential. I also consider how people’s various identities, societal expectations, and the larger systems that we exist in play a part in how we experience and perceive our problems and challenges. I use the traditional mode of talk therapy, but also encourage my clients to engage in more creative methods of expression including art or music, if they are interested in trying those things.

My counseling work is focused in a variety of areas and I can help with issues such as:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorders

  • ADHD

  • Anxiety

  • Behavior Support & Consultation

  • Burnout

  • Teen Therapy

  • Compassion Fatigue

  • Depression

  • Divorce/Separation & Co-Parenting

  • Learning Disabilities

  • Life Changes

  • Mindfulness

  • Neurodevelopmental Issues

  • Parent/Family Support & Coaching

  • School Difficulties

  • Special Education

  • Trauma

  • Transition to Adulthood

  • Vicarious or Secondary Trauma

  • Women’s Issues

As a licensed and nationally certified school psychologist, I also offer private psychoeducational assessments for children, adolescents, and young adult students in King County and Snohomish County (Washington State only). A psychoeducational evaluation is a comprehensive assessment that examines many factors related to learning problems, specifically an individual’s strengths and weaknesses that create barriers to accessing the learning environment. These assessments can be used by K-12 school districts to determine eligibility for 504 plans and Individual Educational Plans (IEP’s), as well as school admissions and placement.

Individual Counseling

Individual Therapy: Individual therapy is tailored to each client's needs.  As a person-centered, solution-focused therapist, Brianne believes each person has the ability to determine their own path for change, and possesses the solutions for their problems within their own strengths.  It can be difficult to see our own strengths. Brianne’s role in therapy is to provide you with a safe non-judgmental space to allow you to gain better insight into your own strengths, and you work toward the change in your life you desire.

Tween (Pre-Teen) Therapy: This stage of development (ages 11 to 13) is full of challenges, growth, and transition, which can be overwhelming for tweens to navigate and understand. Brianne offers a safe and comfortable space for tweens to express their thoughts and feelings. Using their unique strengths and interests, Brianne can help them develop language around emotions, build coping skills, and learn how to be resilient through some of adolescence’s most challenging moments.

Teen Therapy: Brianne enjoys supporting teens (ages 14 to 18) as they learn more about themselves and their world. The teen years can be a scary and challenging time as they face new pressures, emotional and physical changes, and an increased awareness of politics and current events. Brianne can help your teen develop self-acceptance and resiliency as they move forward into adulthood.

Adult Therapy: Adulthood looks different for everyone. Some have been working for years, others are fresh out of college, and some might feel stuck, stagnant, or unsure of where their path will lead them. Brianne can work with you to discover a deeper understanding of yourself, process through thoughts and behaviors that could be holding you back, and find out what drives you.

Behavioral Support & Coaching

Behavioral Intervention & Planning: Behavior is communication, and oftentimes we have a hard time understanding what message children are trying to convey through challenging behaviors. Brianne is experienced in behavioral interventions and functional behavior analysis, and can work alongside you to better understand the function of maladaptive behaviors and to develop a plan to shape those behaviors into more positive and prosocial ones.

Parent & Family Support: Parenting is one of the toughest journeys a person can embark on. It requires immense vulnerability and can bring out the best and worst in us. If you need encouragement, space to work through your own childhood traumas and triggers, or time to explore what you want your parenting to look like, Brianne can help. The family system impacts the way each of us experiences everyday life. Brianne works with families of all shapes and sizes to improve communication, enhance connection and build satisfying relationships with one another.

Assessment & Consultation

Psychoeducational Assessment: As a licensed and nationally certified school psychologist, Brianne offers private psychoeducational assessments for children, adolescents, and young adult students in King County and Snohomish County (Washington State only). A psychoeducational evaluation is a comprehensive assessment that examines many factors related to learning problems, specifically an individual’s strengths and weaknesses that create barriers to accessing the learning environment. Depending on your concerns, a customized psychological testing battery will be created which may include testing of intellectual ability, learning patterns, academic skills, social-emotional/behavioral, and adaptive/life skills. These assessments can be used by K-12 school districts to determine eligibility for 504 plans and Individual Educational Plans (IEP’s), as well as school admissions, kindergarten readiness, and placement.

Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE): If your student has already been evaluated for special education through your current school district and you disagree with those testing results (or feel like your student is not getting the supports and services they need), you may be eligible for an evaluation that is paid for by your student’s school district. An IEE (Independent Education Evaluation) is a private psycho-educational evaluation that provides a parent or guardian the opportunity to obtain their own assessment of their student when they disagree with the school district’s results/recommended educational program. This is a right of all parents or guardians whose student has undergone testing through the school system via the special education laws granted in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Due to her specialty training and national credentialing in School Psychology, Brianne is a qualified professional who can complete an IEE and guide you through the process.

Please contact Emboldened Mental Health to learn more about the psychoeducational assessment and Independent Education Evaluation services offered.

Fees

The cost of therapy can be daunting and is often a hurdle for people accessing the care they need. Emboldened Mental Health (EMH) recognizes that therapy is an investment and is willing to work with clients and their families to find a balance that can make therapy mutually sustainable. At this time, sessions are conducted via the SimplePractice video-conferencing app and EMH only serves residents of Washington State.

At this time, session rates are as follows:

  • Free 20-minute phone or Telehealth video consultation to determine if Brianne is a good therapeutic fit for you or your teen

  • $150 for a 50-minute individual Telehealth counseling session

  • $200 for an 80-minute individual Telehealth counseling session

  • $200 for a 50-minute family Telehealth counseling session

Payment is due at time of service. Brianne accepts payment by debit/credit card, PayPal, Venmo, Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs). Please give at least 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling to avoid paying a $75 fee.

Emboldened Mental Health also offers sliding-scale rate pricing for those experiencing financial hardships. If the cost of therapy is a challenge for you, Brianne offers a limited number of reduced-fee counseling session slots based on need. Please inquire if one is available during your initial contact.

Insurance

Emboldened Mental Health (EMH) does not accept insurance at this time but may be considered and accepted by some insurance companies as an “out of network” provider. A monthly receipt (or Superbill) can be provided to you if you wish to submit it to your insurance company directly for an “out of network” reimbursement. Clients are responsible for interacting with their insurance providers and for managing their therapy payments.

As with most insurance questions, it is a good idea to call your insurance company directly to verify coverage before receiving services. Some helpful questions to ask include:

  • What is the reimbursement rate for an out-of-network therapy provider?

  • Is approval required from my primary care physician for me to pursue and be reimbursed for counseling and mental health services?

  • How many outpatient mental health sessions are covered per year?

  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
